Same-sex Marriage: A Theological Discussion

Dr. George Hunsinger is the McCord Professor of Systematic Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. He earned his degrees at Stanford, Harvard, and Yale. A leading expert on Karl Barth, he was the 2010 recipient of the international Karl Barth Prize. He serves as an ordained Presbyterian minister, the founder of the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (2006), and a delegate to the official Reformed/Roman Catholic International Dialogue (2011–2017). He is interested in “generous orthodoxy” as a way of overcoming the historic liberal/conservative impasse in modern Protestant theology.

Dr. Daniel L. Migliore is a Christian theologian and author. He is Professor Emeritus of Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. He holds a B.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University. He received an honorary doctorate (humane letters) from his alma mater Westminster College (Pennsylvania). An ordained Presbyterian minister, he is a member of the Presbytery of New Brunswick and frequently teaches in local congregations. His areas of interest include systematic theology, Karl Barth, the Trinity, and Christology. During his career he taught courses on Christology, the doctrine of God, the theology of Karl Barth, Barth’s Church Dogmatics, and an introductory course on the doctrines and practices of Christian faith. He retired as Charles Hodge Professor of Systematic Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary in 2009.

Everyone is invited to join us for a special service to remember the lives lost in the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT – USA on 14 December 2012 and other gun violence in the United States.  All are welcome.

18h – Remembrance Service in the ACP Sanctuary

19h – Forum: Public Safety and Firearms (in the Theater next to the Sanctuary)

We plan to draft a resolution calling for common sense and reasonable regulation of firearms in the U.S., and after the event, send it to U.S. congressmen and Senators, the Giffords Law Center, and other interested parties.

The service will be followed by a roundtable discussion in the Thurber Room on gun violence. Light refreshments will be served.
