"No Longer Strangers"
Led by Dan and Fran Michalek
7-9 June at Abbaye-Fleury

Spring Retreat 2019You are invited to a special time away for rest, relaxation, spiritual renewal and community. On 7-9 June 2019 ACP will return to the Abbaye-Fleury, a historic Benedictine monastery on the banks of the Loire River about two hours from Paris.

The theme of the retreat will be "No Longer Strangers" and will be led by ACP’s Visiting Pastor Dan Michalek and Fran Michalek.

He came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near; for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God ... Ephesians 2:17-19

Location: l'Abbaye de Fleury, Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire.

The monastery at Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire began around 630 A.D. A century later the monks from this monastery brought the remains of Saint Benedict back from Italy. Saint Benedict is the author of the rule for the life of monks known as the “Rule of Saint Benedict,” which is still a source of inspiration for Christians all over the world. The beautiful basilica there dates from the 11th and 12th centuries. Each day it still resounds to the chants of the monks and the numerous faithful. This beautiful setting is on the Loire River, about 2 hours + from Paris.

Accommodations: Rooms have two single beds each; they are airy, clean and colorfully painted. Bathrooms and showers are down the hall. Singles are available. Bring towels and soap.

Cost: 125 Euros. This includes two nights lodging and six meals from Friday supper through Sunday lunch. Registration and payment can be completed at the Welcome Table following worship on Sunday mornings. Scholarships are available. Getting There: Ridesharing coordinated by Sue Orsoni, coordinator of the Retreat. Can you drive? Bring others? Do you need a ride?
Driving: Take the A-10 from Paris to Orléans; exit the first exit for that city: Orléans Nord. Head east on N60 - E60 toward Chateauneuf and Fontainebleau (watch out! It’s the first exit off the road onto which you have just arrived). Stay on E60 about 25 km. or so, following signs to Châteauneuf/s/Loire. Exit D952 at signs for St. Benoît/s/Loire (do not exit for Châteauneuf once on D952); turn right onto D148 at St. Aignan (sign to St. Benoît). Follow signs to the church (la basilique). Go right at the Y and then the first left; park in front of the church. You can be greeted in the building to the right of the church.
By Train: You can take a train to Orléans (Les Aubrais) and then a bus to St. Benoît (see www.rvl-info.com); but there are not many buses so we will arrange to pick you up in Orléans (at Les Aubrais) if you let us know when you will arrive.

What to bring: Bible and notebook, sheets, towel, soap, walking shoes, alarm clock.

About the Retreat – Friday dinner (Program 20h) through Sunday lunch. The goal of the retreat is for a community of adults to take sabbath time for re-creation, renewal and rest with quiet reflection and active prayer. We will have time to worship with the brothers, explore the theme No Longer Strangers in community time, sing and reflect, take walks, share meals, and engage in the Great Silence of the monastic life (from late evening through breakfast).
